Recently, a vehicle modification company in Victoria,  ran an open house day displaying some of the aids and adaptations available to the Australian market.  PME specialises in customised vehicle conversions for people with disability.

See below some videos from the day, which show a small range of possible modifications to enable people with a physical disability to return to driving, and with it, return to a much more independent life!

As part of a driver rehab program, Evolution Health Consulting can advise on similar ranges of modifications that can be completed by QLD based or interstate engineering firms.  Please contact us if you have any more further questions, or would like to discuss your particular needs.

PME’s Expo Day on Driving with a Disability had several modified vehicles on display and gave guests the opportunity to meet the owners of these vehicles. This particular vehicle features a custom hand control setup. It has been specifically designed for its owner who is a triple amputee.

This particular vehicle features a Wheelchair Self Drive conversion. The wheelchair user enters the vehicle via the rear entry lift and rolls into the driving position where their wheelchair is automatically locked down. They can then drive the vehicle using the appropriate controls. In this case the driver uses a push-pull hand control.

PME also demonstrated how a vehicle with Space Drive electronic mobility controls operates. This sort of modification is for physically challenged individuals with high level disabilities.

The Accelerator Ring is an advanced hand control driving adaptation. While using the Accelerator Ring, both hands remain on the steering wheel. Acceleration is achieved by simply applying pressure at any point of the ring.
